Jopay reminisces SexBomb Girls days, salutes ‘Eat Bulaga’ on 40th anniversary

Jopay Paguia looked back on her career as a former member of the dance group SexBomb Girls, while paying tribute to the upcoming 40 years of the noontime TV variety program “Eat Bulaga”.

Paguia posted throwback photos of herself with her fellow SexBomb members at the “Eat Bulaga” studio, via Instagram today, July 28.

“Happy 40th anniversary @eatbulaga1979. Taong 1999 nang unang napanood ang SexBomb Dancers sa longest-running noontime show ng bansa,” Paguia said. “Sumikat pa nang husto ang grupo, nagkaroon ng hit albums, at nabigyan ng afternoon series na Daisy Siete, na tumagal nang pitong taon.”

Paguia expressed her gratitude to the noontime show for helping make the dance group famous.

“Kaya gusto kong mag pa salamat sa Eatbulaga dahil binigyan nyo ng kulay at direksyon ang aming mga buhay, nang dahil sa inyo nakilala kami ng husto sumikat ang aming daisy siete dahil sa tulong ninyo nakilala ng husto ang sexbomb girls,” she said.

(This is why I want to thank “Eat Bulaga” because you all gave color and direction to our lives. Because of you, we became widely known and “Daisy Siete” became famous. Because of you, SexBomb Girls became well-known.)

“Kayo ang naging pangalawang tahanan namin araw araw,” Paguia added. “Naaalala no noon kapag pagod na pagod na ako sa kaliwat kanan na trabaho kapag pumapasok ako sa eat bulaga na wawala ang pagod ko kasi naka kita ako ng pangalawang pamilya at ramdam ko ang tunay na pag mamahal galing sa inyo.”

(You became our second home, every day. I remember when I used to get tired because of non-stop work, when I come to “Eat Bulaga”, it relieves my exhaustion because I found a second family, and I feel real love from you.)

The former SexBomb Girls member cited Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, Tito Sotto, TAPE Inc. executive Malou Choa-Fagar and APT Entertainment chairman Antonio Tuviera as the reasons why the group became famous. She said they are her inspiration to work hard. 

The SexBomb Girls became mainstays of “Eat Bulaga” until 2011. The group is known for their hit dance tunes “Spaghetti Song” and “Bakit Papa?”, among others. JB
