Jayda Avanzado just celebrated her sweet 16 this June, and her parents Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado remain protective of her.
When asked if Jayda could field suitors in a “Umagang Kay Ganda” interview, Jessa answered, “Bata pa. Hindi pa pwede.” (She’s too young. Not yet.)
What they are supportive of is her budding music career. Only in her teens, Jayda has already opened for Niall Horan and performed with Aaron Carter in their Manila concerts in 2018.
Jayda’s powerful voice and performance onstage make for a rising pop star. She has been performing alongside 18-year-old singer Darren Espanto, which includes song and dance numbers on “ASAP”.
Both parents, themselves singers, approve of the team-up. “Ako natutuwa sa team-up nila kasi pareho silang mahusay, actually,” said Jessa. (I’m happy with the team-up because they are both good, actually.)
Dingdong said he and Jessa have spent time with Espanto. “We got the chance to meet Darren in person and hang out with him and he’s a very nice young man. I’m glad that they’re working together.”
In a birthday greeting to Espanto last May, Jayda wrote a heartfelt message for him on Instagram and described him as “one of the people closest to me.”
Similarly, Espanto dedicated an Instagram post to her on her June 1 birthday: “You impress and amaze me all [the] time; when you perform, when you write songs, and how you handle difficult situations.” Niña V. Guno/JB
