Heart Evangelista has returned to China for a mystery project.
The actress shared on her Instagram on Wednesday, May 29, a picture of a director’s chair with her name printed on the black canvas.
“Back in China. I’m missing my family terribly, but I’m so thankful to be here,” she said. “I feel way too lucky to be chasing my dreams here to have any complains (sic).”
Evangelista was last in China for the project in January. Last April, she told Cinema One that the project was an international action film. She said she was not sure if it would be screened in local theaters.
It is not clear if her return to China is for the same movie.
Followers speculated that she was working on the sequel to “Crazy Rich Asians,”: “China Rich Girlfriend.” But she said no point-blank in the comments section when asked if she was in the movie.
She admitted to GMA in July last year that she had auditioned for a role in “Crazy Rich Asians” and that author Kevin Kwan told her she almost made it.
Fans can’t be blamed for hoping she will join the “Crazy Rich” films—she was named by Kwan as a “real Crazy Rich Asian,” given her affinity for couture fashion.
The “Crazy Rich” sequel is still being written, and shoots are expected to begin in 2020, actress Gemma Chan told Radio Times in March. /ra
