Kathryn Bernardo turned 23 on Tuesday, March 26. As she earns another year in her life, she said she wants to define the word “womanhood” on her own terms.

“Ready to turn over a new leaf!” the Kapamilya actress and one-half of the KathNiel love team expressed in an Instagram post.

Bernardo then opened up the topic about womanhood, saying “So many people have so many expectations about what it really means to enter womanhood, specifically about how one should dress, talk, or behave in general.”

“I don’t know about any of these things, but I do know I want to define womanhood on my own terms,” she said. “For me, it means being able to move at my own pace, feeling more comfortable in my own skin, embracing my flaws, and not having to explain to anyone why I am what I am.”

In another post, she said it was time to open another chapter in her life. She wishes that this year will be “all about taking care of the people I love, balancing work and play, and relishing every moment as it happens.”

Bernardo first celebrated her birthday in a gay bar in Pasig City, on the early morning of Monday, March 25, together with Juan Miguel Severo and her glam squad composed of her favorite fashion stylists, hair stylists, makeup artists and photographers. On the eve of her birthday, she had a quiet celebration in the company of her family and boyfriend, actor Daniel Padilla. JB
