Gretchen reminds niece Dani: You weren’t raised by Marjorie alone
MANILA, Philippines — Gretchen Barretto did not mince words to remind niece Dani Barretto that she was not raised by Marjorie Barretto alone.
Gretchen, in an Instagram livestream on Wednesday, aired her sentiments about Dani making it sound like she did not help in raising her at all.
This was after Dani said in a recent vlog how Marjorie is the “most deserving” person to walk her down the aisle “because she raised me on her own.”
“When Dani was born, I was about 23 years old. I’d like to refresh everyone’s memory. When Marjorie was pregnant, she lived in my house in Blue Ridge,” Gretchen recalled.
“When Dani was born, Marjorie was still living in my house. You know, ang pangit ‘yung babalikan ko ba na ginastos ko ‘to, ginawa ko ‘yan. Ayoko magbilang,” she added.
Gretchen said she was the one who paid hospital bills and salary of the household helper who took care of Dani.
“Ako po ang nagbayad ng hospital bills. Natural, pamangkin ko siya, anak siya ng kapatid ko na minamahal ko. She needed a yaya, Yaya Susan, ako po ang nagsuweldo. Hindi po ako nagyayabang. I’m just trying to refresh the memory of everybody,” she said.
Gretchen even described Dani as the “apple of my eye” because she did not have any children at the time.
“Dani was the apple of my eye. I didn’t have any children yet. I provided everything, including love and attention. And so did Claudine,” she said.
Gretchen further said, “Minahal ko si Dani. I thought I was her second mother when she called me ‘mama.’ So, parang ngayon, ‘yung sinabi na, ‘My mom was the only one who’s there for me who raised me alone, on her own,’ ano ako, multo? Ano si Claudine, multo?”
“Parang for me, ouch. ‘Di ba, parang ouch! I was hoping I raised or I gave love to people who at least can be grateful, at least, ‘yun lang,” she added.
Meanwhile, Gretchen also spoke in defense of Kier Legaspi, Dani’s father: “Siguro kung may kasalanan si Kier kay Dani, hindi siya mayaman.”
“Kier Legaspi always tried to be part of Dani’s life. But mom of Dani just did not allow it,” she added.
Legaspi, on the other hand, took to Instagram on Thursday to thank Gretchen. He posted a photo quote that read: “Being honest may not get you a lot of friends, but it’ll always get you the rights ones.”
