‘Captain Marvel’ cleans up at the global box office
The latest Marvel movie hit hard on its opening weekend in theaters, grossing a mighty $455 million worldwide.
“Captain Marvel” scores the sixth highest global debut of all time, behind “Avengers: Infinity War” ($640.5 million), “The Fate of the Furious” ($541.9 million), “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($529 million), “Jurassic World” ($525.5 million) and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” ($483.2 million).
Its spectacular arrival atop the global box office knocks last week’s leader, “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”, into second place, grossing $36.4 million. Recent Best Picture winner at the Oscars, “Green Book”, holds on to third place with $30.8 million.
