Vice Ganda waxes comedic on harsh lessons learned from love
Comedian Vice Ganda kept it real and funny when he gave advice on love to an 18-year-old “Tawag ng Tanghalan” contestant on “It’s Showtime” last Jan. 9 by sharing some stories of his own. Vice Ganda shared, among others, the experience of young love, where the feelings seem bigger and the stakes so much higher.
“Iiyakan mo siya na parang siya yung pinaka-gwapo. Tapos eventually, ma-re-realize mo ang panget pala nito,” Vice Ganda told the contestant.
He used himself as an example, sharing that he does not understand why he cried over some past lovers. “Andami kong naging jowa dati na ngayon naiisip ko paano ko to hinagulgulan dati? Mas gwapo pa ko dito,” he said. “Tanggalin ko makeup ko, mas gwapo pa ko, pero niloko ako. Paano ko hinayaan yun?”
As per Vice Ganda, such is what happens when you fall in love and feel as if the other person is your whole world.

“Nagkaroon pa nga ako ng jowang adik. Nung mga panahong yun, di ko nakikitang adik siya,” he said. “Ang nasa isip ko, ‘nako ano lang to nagkakamali lang magbabago din to.’”
He was wrong. Years have passed, but his past lover still remains an addict and Vice Ganda wondered how he could let himself be with someone like that. He shared, however, that eventually you learn to laugh it all off.
“Ang tanda na namin. Nabalitaan ko adik pa rin ang walang hiya,” he said ruthlessly. “Bakit ko pinayagan na jowain ko ang adik na to? Eventually tatawanan mo na lang…”
In the end, Vice Ganda advised the young contestant that it is God who shall provide him with what he deserves.
“You don’t always get what you want, but you will always get what you deserve because God will provide you with what you deserve.”
Amen! /ra
