‘Aquaman’ sees off ‘Spider-Man’ to retain top spot at global box office
The DC superhero holds on to the top spot at the global box office, adding $126.4 million to its total grosses. “Aquaman” is followed by “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” in second place and “The Grinch” in third.
Now out in some 40 countries, “Aquaman” has grossed $261.3 million since opening in China Dec. 7. This week, the superhero, played by Jason Momoa, sees off competition from “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” which grossed $56.4 million. “The Grinch” comes in third place with $34.9 million.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald” are both still hanging on in the top 10, totaling $636 million and $596 million respectively since release.
This week’s new entries include Clint Eastwood’s latest movie, “The Mule”. Grossing $17.2 million, the movie, based on a true story, lands in seventh place.
