LOOK: Andi Manzano throws baby shower in ‘busiest maternity ward in the country’
While expecting her second child, Andi Manzano decided to pay it forward with a baby shower dedicated to other moms in need.
The radio jock and TV host headed to Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Santa Cruz, Manila. BBC has dubbed it the “world’s busiest maternity ward” in a 2014 feature.
Manzano recalled her visit with a picture of her and a handful of mothers holding their newborns in an Instagram post last Oct. 29.

“They say it’s the Ground Zero for mother’s giving birth in the Philippines — the busiest maternity ward in the country,” she wrote.
Article continues after this advertisement“When you enter the place it’s 3-4 moms per bed with their newborn babies. Hundreds of moms give birth there a day and you’ll notice that every ten minutes there’s a new mother coming in with a newborn baby,” she said.
Article continues after this advertisementA vlog of her experience shows her giving a “care kit” to each mother, which includes a pack of diapers and mittens. She mentioned that there were 108 mothers in the ward.
“For me this is the best way to celebrate my baby shower,” she said in the vlog.
In October, TV host Bianca Gonzalez also threw an alternative baby shower, choosing new moms in Taguig to receive gift bags and attend motherhood talks.
Manzano is due to give birth in January. She and businessman husband GP Reyes had their first child, Olivia, in 2015. The couple is known to throw elaborate celebrations for their daughter, including a third birthday bash with live animals last March. /ra
