Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez’s recent transfer to rival network ABS-CBN has been a much-talked about affair, one that saw many come to the defense of Velasquez’s good name after an onslaught of unwarranted bashing.

One of those who gave her support for Velasquez loud and clear was Tony Award-wining singer-actress Lea Salonga. She took to social media last Oct. 29 to give words of comfort to “one of the most sincere and real people” in the entertainment industry.

Michelle van Eimeren, Ogie Alcasid’s ex-wife and mother to Leila Alcasid, also showed support for Velasquez. It was on Oct. 29 that Velasquez took to Instagram to call on her bashers to stop insulting her, husband Ogie and son Nate: “Lumipat lang po ako ng network, hindi ako pumatay ng tao.”

In that very same post Van Eimeren sent her love to Velasquez and apologized for all the hurt that “small-minded” people had caused her.

“I am so sorry that those small minded people say such awful, hurtful words,” Van Eimeren said. “You are a beautiful soul @reginevalcasid there is a great deal more for you to offer this world.”

Apart from the bashers who can only inflict their hatred online, Van Eimeren showed she could speak for Velasquez’s happiness, as she saw it herself during Velasquez’s visit in Australia.

“I am truly happy that I got to see the joy and happiness within you on your visit, don’t allow these negative people to diminish in any way this new chapter in your life,” Van Eimeren continued. “Allow that joy and your incredible talent to be shared with those that appreciate it.”

Van Eimeren’s words also echoed Salonga’s when the latter told Velasquez that those who don’t like her are not so much of a loss  and that it is those who truly love her who will stand the test of time.”

“You know we can’t please everyone, but that’s on them not you my dear friend. I am always here for you and love you as a sister, you are my family. You can get through this, you have many by your side that love you so very much, remind yourself of that each day,” Van Eimeren said.  /ra
