Spanky Manikan
Veteran film, theater and television actor Spanky Manikan lost his battle to lung cancer last January 14. He was 75.
He was one of the Philippines’ most seasoned character with his roles “Bona” in 1980, “Himala” in 1982, “Broken Marriage” in 1983, “Deathrow” in 2001 and the highly-acclaimed “Maynila: Sa Mga Kuko ng Liwanag” in 1975.
Pitoy Moreno
Fashion designer Jose “Pitoy” Moreno reportedly died of heart attack last January 15 at the age of 88 years old.
He was known as the “Fashion Czar of Asia” as he did not only dress the Philippine elite in the ‘60s, but also presented his fashion shows to European royalty and heads of state abroad.

Maryo De Los Reyes
Award-winning director Maryo De Los Reyes passed away last January 27 from heart attack. He was 65.
He was known for directing highly-acclaimed films such as “Bagets” in 1984, “Magnifico” in 2008, “Naglalayag” in 2004 and “A Love Story” in 2007.

Napoleon Abueva
National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon Abueva died of pneumonia at the age of 88 last February 16.
Widely acknowledged as the country’s “Father of Modern Sculpture,” he was the youngest recipient of the national artist
honor at age 46.

Bernardo Bernardo
Critically-acclaimed actor Bernardo Bernardo passed away last March 11 at the age of 73. The cause of his death was not revealed, though he reportedly had a tumor in the pancreas.
He’s well-known as the archenemy of Dolphy’s character in “Home Along Da Riles” as Steve Carpio. He was also last seen in the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Picture winner “Ang Larawan.”

Rolly Quizon
Actor Raul “Rolly” Quizon, son of Comedy King Dolphy died last March 15 reportedly after suffering a stroke and going into comatose. He was 59.
He was best known for his portrayal of Rolly Puruntong in “John En Marsha.” In 1977, he won the Best Actor award at the Metro Manila Film Festival for his role in movie “Burlesk Queen” with Vilma Santos.

Mely Tagasa
Veteran actress and screenwriter Mely Tagasa passed away last March 24 at the age of 82 after reportedly being in coma and was “weaned off her respirator.”
She was most popularly known as Miss Tapia in the ‘70s sitcom “Iskul Bukol.”

Rico J. Puno
OPM icon and Total Entertainer Rico J. Puno died of heart failure last October 30 at the age of 65.
Among his hit songs in his 40 years in the industry were “Kapalaran,” “Buhat,” “Macho Gwapito,” “Lupa,” “Damdamin”, and “May Bukas Pa.”
