Korean girl group Black Pink signed up with American record label Interscope Records as it prepares to take over the international music scene.
YG Entertainment signed the deal with Interscope, which is under Universal Music, today, Oct. 23. The partnership will usher in a “diverse array of global projects in the future,” according to a statement by YG as reported by Newsen via Soompi.
Interscope Geffen A&M chairman and CEO Lucian Graingein believes Black Pink to be global superstars in the making. The partnership will further help YG in its pursuit of its vision for “Black Pink world domination.”
Meanwhile, YG sees the partnership as a possible momentum it needs to further introduce artists under its wing to the North American and European markets in the future.
Black Pink recently did a collaboration with British singer Dua Lipa on the bilingual track “Kiss and Make Up.” It was released on Oct. 19. The music video for their song “DDU-DU DDU-DU” currently has over 434 million views. The group is also doing preparations for its first solo concert in Korea titled “In Your Area.” The event will be held at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul on Nov. 10 and 11.
Black Pink debuted on Aug. 8, 2016, with the single “Square One.” The group’s members include Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. On Oct. 18, YG also announced that the members will each get their own solo songs starting with Jennie. Alfred Bayle /ra
