It’s not just viewers who poke fun at the long-running series “Ang Probinsyano” for its, well, longevity. Clearly, the end is still a long way away. Coco Martin (Cardo) just can’t seem to be defeated by his enemies no matter what, whereas more and more characters are also being brought in on the show.
Coco Martin recently had former singer Mystica and child actress Rhed Bustamante debut in “Ang Probinsyano” for their showbiz comeback.
This is nothing short of surprising as Martin is known for helping past stars who want to make a return to showbiz. Last August, he supported former child actor CJ Ramos by giving him the chance to appear in the show after Ramos was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation last July. As Ramos turns his life around, Martin thought it apt to give him a break and contacted him to star in “Ang Probinsyano”.
Ethel Booba took to social media recently to give her opinion about the show and just why Cardo can’t seem to die.
“Yan ang reason kaya inuulan ng blessing ang ‘Ang Probinsyano at si Coco Martin,” wrote Ethel on Twitter last Sept. 17 as she cited a report of Mystica and Bustamante’s debut in the show.
(That is the reason why “Ang Probinsyano” is blessed.)
“Kasi tinutulungan nya mga kapwa artista niya. Binigyan tuloy siya ni Lord ng mahabang buhay kaya di siya mapatay ng kalaban. Charot!‘”
(He is helping his fellow actors. That’s why the Lord has given him a long life and the enemy can’t kill him.)
Ethel’s theory may hold weight, but other netizens weren’t to be overshadowed as they also gave their own funny take on why Cardo and the series aren’t ending any time soon.
“81 provinces kasi ang [Philippines] kaya talagang tatagal pa [ang] ‘Ang Probinsyano,'” replied one netizen (@iamyour77444580) last Sept. 17. (The Philippines has 81 provinces, that’s why “Ang Probinsyano” will keep running for a long time.)
“Baka mag-int’l and mabunyag na ang [probinsya] ni Cardo ay nasa ibang bansa,” added a certain Rick (@meovvyh) on Sept. 18. (It might go international with the revelation that Cardo’s province is actually abroad.)
“Ang Probinsyano” first aired on September 2015 and continues to be a top-rating success three years on. Fans of the show need not worry, too, as the show’s writers still have a lot in store for them.
Last July, ABS-CBN head of corporate communication Kane Ochoa stated that “Ang Probinsyano” will continue to air despite rumors of its nearing end made the rounds.
“There is no truth to the rumor that FPJ’s ‘Ang Probinsyano’ is scheduled to end soon,” Ochoa said then. Coco Martin and the show’s writers are enjoying the process of coming up with creative ideas to make the story more compelling, as well as collaborating with the cast and the production team.”
“FPJAP continues to enjoy high viewership every night, and our Kapamilyas can expect new twists and characters as it goes into its third year,” Ochoa assured fans. JB
