Daniel Matsunaga receives honorary doctoral degree
Daniel Matsunaga received an honorary doctoral degree over the weekend from a religious institution.
Matsunaga was conferred with a Ph.D. in Humanities, major in Social Work from Brethren Evangelical School Of Theology (BEST), based in Gapan, Nueva Ecija.
The awarding ceremony was held on Saturday, Sept. 8 in a restaurant in Cubao, Quezon City.
The Brazilian-Japanese actor-athlete marked his achievement with a video on Instagram, which included pictures of the ceremony. “I am very honored to be the recipient of such an amazing award. I just want to thank God for everything He has done in my life… also to the executives for believing and trusting me with such a big award,” he said.

His family was in attendance, including sister Vanessa Matsunaga.

Article continues after this advertisementAccording to BEST’s Facebook page, one can receive an honorary doctorate if they fulfill the following criteria: “1) proven character; 2) length of services rendered at least 10 years and above; 3) life experienced in line with expertise; 4) life achievements in the field of practice of expertise; and 5) nominated by credible individual that knows you well.”
Individuals in any field of expertise can apply.
Based on the database of the Commission on Higher Education, BEST is not listed as a recognized higher education institution. JB
