Gillian Anderson’s foray into fashion design
Gillian Anderson, after starring in “The X-Files” and “American Gods,” announced getting a job that took even her by surprise: designing for luxurious clothing brand Winser London.
The actress, who is sporting short silver hair and modeling the clothes for the campaign, told Harper’s Bazaar about her temporary jump to fashion design: “I guess it was when Winser asked me! It wasn’t something that I really had an interest in… I have friends who are fashion designers, and it just never occurred to me that I might step in that direction.”
She said that in partnering with the label, she had to ask herself, “What would I want to say through the clothes that I’d be creatively contributing?”
Anderson, who played FBI agent Dana Scully in “The X-Files,” said she didn’t necessarily wear her characters’ clothes. For her set, she designed a coat, a blazer and pants, among other apparel for women.
On Instagram, she told followers, “Please let us know what you think of your items when they arrive… Would love to see you in them.”—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
