Na-‘Goyo’ ka na ba?: Paulo Avelino gives kilig, witty answers in online Q&A

Paulo Avelino’s latest film, “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” premiered yesterday, Sept. 5. He launched an online Q&A on the same day, wherein he called upon the spirit of the film’s titular character, hero Gregorio “Goyo” Del Pilar, to provide kilig-inducing answers as well as downright funny comebacks to a variety of questions thrown by fans.

Before the release of “Goyo”, Avelino encouraged his followers on Twitter to ask him questions, using the hashtag “#AskGoyo”.

Unsurprisingly, excited fans joined his Q&A, asking him questions on various subjects. Avelino took the opportunity to address Del Pilar’s womanizer tag.

“Babaero daw si Goyo dun sa film? (Was Goyo indeed a womanizer in the film?)” asked one netizen, pinam (@alfiefillz). Avelino replied, saying it’s hearsay, for Del Pilar might have just been misunderstood.

Another asked if Del Pilar was a cheater. Avelino did not provide a yes or no answer, stating that Del Pilar just loved a lot of women during his time.

Channeling Del Pilar’s charms, Avelino provided answers capable of sending lucky recipients swooning.

“Pupunta ako ng Maynila sa Sabado, pwede mo ba akong samahan manood ng Goyo? (I will be going to Manila on Saturday, will you accompany me in watching “Goyo”?)” asked one netizen, enah (@Enuuuuuh).

Avelino replied: “Saan sa Maynila? Sabihin mo agad sakin para ma tantsya (sic) ko travel time sakay yung kabayo ko. Traffic pa naman.” (Where in Manila? Tell me immediately so that I can estimate my travel time while riding my horse. Traffic’s [bad] these days.)

Another asked him what was his inspiration in playing the role of Del Pilar. “Ikaw. Tanging ikaw (You. Only you),” was Avelino’s teasing answer.

Below are Avelino’s other kilig-inducing replies, indulging his seemingly lovelorn fans.

However, not all romantic questions thrown by Twitter users were met with equally cheesy answers. Avelino did not hesitate to shut down some of his fans’ wisecracks.

Meanwhile, other questions Avelino entertained were extremely random, to say the least, with subjects ranging from drinking mineral water, to what to do when you drop the soap.

Avelino also repeatedly joked that he paid director Jerrold Tarog to get the film’s titular character, since that’s how things go these days, he said.

On a serious note, Avelino revealed that if he wasn’t chosen to play Del Pilar, he believes Daniel Padilla fits the titular role. He also thinks Glaiza De Castro is perfect for singing the film’s official soundtrack.

It seems Paulo Avelino formed a special bond with his character. “Kung may chance ka pang mamili sa mga bayani na gusto mong bigyang-buhay, Goyo pa rin ba?” asked one Twitter user.

(If you will be given the chance to portray another hero, will you still choose Goyo?)

“Attachedt na ako (I’m already attached),” was his simple retort. JB
