It wasn’t too late just yet for one of Heart Evangelista’s former school bullies. Evangelista took to her Instagram Stories recently to share a message someone had sent her, which apologized for the bullying they put Evangelista through during her time at Colegio San Agustin-Makati.

“This made me cry,” Evangelista wrote on her Instagram Stories on Aug. 23, sharing a screenshot of the message.

Evangelista didn’t reveal who the person was behind the message, which read, “Hi. Excuse the very random message. You don’t need to reply to this or anything. I know it’s well in the past but I just thought I should apologize to you for all the bullying we put you through in school.”

In the message, the unidentified person said that they were “*ssholes” who put Evangelista through “a lot of crap.”

“So I’m sorry you had to go through that,” the message read. “I thank God that He made you to be a strong individual.”

“For what it’s worth, I am very happy for you and how God has blessed you so much and for all the dreams you’ve been able to achieve so far. Good luck with life and may you be blessed and always be a blessing to the people in your life.”

Evangelista was palpably moved over the out-of-the-blue message. “You are amazing. God bless you,” wrote Evangelista. “P.S. I always wanted to be a friend. You didn’t have to but I appreciate this so much.”

It’s known that bullying affects a huge number of children the world over. As per the United Nations Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, bullying and cyber-bullying compromise the health, emotional well-being and academic work of children. Bullying is correlated with long-lasting repercussions that may continue into one’s adulthood, and is detrimental to all those involved, both victim and perpetrator, making it a serious concern of global relevance.

But if there’s one thing Evangelista’s former bully got right, it’s the fact that Evangelista has been blessed, and continues to be, in her pursuit of her dreams. Recently, Evangelista was highlighted in American fashion magazine Harper’sBazaar’s September feature on Paris’ haute couture fashion week.

Evangelista was featured with Malaysian twins Michelle and Rachel Yeoh, Hong Kong blogger Feiping Chang and “Crazy Rich Asians” author Kevin Kwan himself, who called Evangelista “the darling of the Philippines.”

Evangelista also revealed recently on her Instagram that she’s now an endorser of the luxury French label Sequoia Paris.

“I remember passing by the Sequoia store along rue Saint Honoré during my past trips to Paris, and being awe-struck at each of their stunning leather handbags,” wrote Evangelista on Instagram last Aug. 23. “Now, it has come full circle! I am honored to be part of this luxury French label.”  /ra
