WATCH: Jake Zyrus stars, sings theme song for Japanese action movie

Jake Zyrus was handpicked for a Japanese action film about an assassin who is out for revenge.

In “Yaru Onna (She’s a Killer)” the singer plays the best friend of contract killer Aiko (Kang Ji-Young), who is out to avenge her parents’ murder by the Yakuza. The film is directed by Keiji Miyano.

The singer told ABS-CBN news that the movie was shot last year before his transition as a trans man. He was also tapped to sing the theme song.

Zyrus praised the Japanese production theme for their respect and for stating his new name in the credits. The theatrical trailer bills Zyrus as Charice a.k.a. Jake Zyrus.
