LOOK: Kris Aquino wows in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Hollywood premiere
Queen of All Media Kris Aquino dazzled in a show-stopping yellow modern Filipiniana gown, as she graced the Hollywood premiere of “Crazy Rich Asians” today, Aug. 8 (Aug. 7 in the United States) at the TCL Chinese Theater on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The creation was made by no other than fashion designer Michael Leyva. The off-shoulder gown was in the shade of yellow, paying homage to Aquino’s mother, the late former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.

Aquino was accompanied by her youngest son Bimby who looked dapper in a barong. In a video clip Aquino posted on Instagram today, Aug. 8, she can be seen with Bimby walking towards a crowd of fans subdued by a barricade, who all welcomed her with screams and flashing camera phones.
The supporters brought with them yellow tarpaulins in support of Aquino, most of them Filipinos who were just happy to see her step foot in California. In the video, Aquino and Bimby made their way toward the Filipino crowd, greeted them warmly and shook their hands.
“This was the reason we made the effort to be here…. it is my honor to proudly represent the Philippines,” wrote Aquino having been deeply moved by the Filipino crowd.
“Maraming salamat po sa effort nyo to show your love & support!” she added.
(Thank you so much for your effort in showing your love and support.)
In an earlier post made the same day, Aquino shared on her Instagram page another video clip, this time of her wearing five different gowns.
The gowns were made by designers Francis Libiran and Michael Leyva respectively, with two of the gowns in a blush pink hue. Aquino, however, settled for Leyva’s modern take on the Filipiniana for the premiere. No doubt, however, that she looked regal in all of them.
“We tried 5 gowns- by @francislibiran8 & @michaelleyva_… i’m definitely wearing 1 of these,” shared Aquino.
The film “Crazy Rich Asians” is slated to be released worldwide this August. JB
