Kris Aquino featured in Teen Vogue; author calls her ‘a highlight’ of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’
The appearance of Queen of All Media Kris Aquino in the Hollywood film “Crazy Rich Asians” has been much talked-about. Aquino shared recently that she is set to walk the red carpet for the film’s premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater on the Hollywood Walk of Fame tomorrow, Aug. 7. But until then, Aquino would have to wait.
Aquino took to her Instagram last Aug. 3 to share the latest goings on in their stay in Los Angeles, California.
“Hello from LA,” wrote Aquino. “Hindi pinayagan ni (I was not allowed by) Dr. Piano lumabas (to go out) because today was very hot & dry, meaning the air would have a lot of allergens present — so I obeyed and just slept then I watched a lot of ‘The Good Fight’ on CBS All Access…”

Hello from LA. 🇺🇸 Hindi pinayagan ni Dr. Piano lumabas because today was very hot & dry, meaning the air would have a lot of allergens present- so i obeyed & just slept then i watched a lot of “The Good Fight” on CBS All Access (i love my law shows & legal thrillers ⚖️) Thanks @iamgarygarcia for taking Kuya Josh to his forever happy place Chuck E Cheese… Thanks @nix722 for sending this to me, Bimb was finally impressed w/ his Mama- he said “whoa, you’re on Teen Vogue?” Now all of you know why i’m grounded, w/ my feet firmly planted on the ground. #familylife Looking forward to my lunch on Monday w/ the Fil-Am community. @crazyrichasians #pinoypride #philippines 🇵🇭🇺🇸💛💙❤️
In her post, Aquino shared screenshots of an article on Teen Vogue published last Aug. 1, which featured the entire cast of the “Crazy Rich Asians” movie.
“Bimb was finally impressed w/ his Mama — he said ‘Whoa, you’re on Teen Vogue?’ Now all of you know why I’m grounded, w/ my feet firmly planted on the ground,” wrote Aquino.
The following day, Aug. 4, Aquino shared a video clip of an interview between Kevin Kwan, author of “Crazy Rich Asians”, and Curtis Chin, the former US Ambassador to the Asian Development Bank and a commentator.
At one point in the interview, Chin referred to Aquino as “Super celeb-interviewer-media star Kris Aquino.”
Kwan, meanwhile, told Chin in the interview that Aquino is a “highlight” of the movie.
“She’s definitely in the movie,” said Kwan. “She’s a highlight of the movie, for me, she’s a highlight of the movie.”
“She doesn’t need my help. Everything she does goes viral,” added Kwan.

My nephew @jiggycruz sent me the whole interview. #family 💛 My KCAP team led by @paanipedro edited the meaningful moment for me… i was grateful to watch & hear all the generous words to describe me Mr. Curtis Chin used BUT to actually view @kevinkwanbooks answer in reference to me “she’s a highlight of the movie, for me, she’s a highlight…” what more could a girl who only dreamed of this say but- THANK YOU Kevin, for the affirmation, but more importantly for appreciating that we Filipinos are @crazyrichasians #superfans… i know my part would never have been “tweaked” had it not been because Kevin wanted to reciprocate the #lovelovelove ❤️❤️❤️ we Filipinos have from book 1 📚👓 consistently supported him with. (The clips we included are from the audition we submitted to the @crazyrichasians casting directors & producers; after the Philippine theatrical release on August 22- we’ll hopefully be able to upload most of it on my official FB page & my @youtube The Aquinos channel.) The 1st few steps of this journey wouldn’t have begun had it not been for @jhett_tolentino & @agentchrislee connecting w/ me through many mutual friends namely @missizacalzado, Manang Nene Chan, and Cong @lenalonte. (Now you can understand why i managed to exercise restraint & nag #carebears kung may ilan na gustong i-downplay & maliitin yung pagkasali ko sa @crazyrichasians, 🎬🎥because i chose to believe in the wisdom of the saying: Work hard in SILENCE, let SUCCESS make the noise… i’m very blessed because i never had to utter a word- the writer & creator of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy already said it all for me. He truly is another of my very special guardian angels. #kevinkwanislove👼) #positivitywins #gratitude #proudpinoy #philippines 🇵🇭💛💙❤️🇺🇸
Aquino, unsurprisingly, was deeply flattered.
“I was grateful to watch and hear all the generous words to describe me Mr. Curtis Chin used BUT to actually view @kevinkwanbooks [Kevin Kwan’s] answer in reference to me… what more could a girl who only dreamed of this say,” wrote Aquino.
“THANK YOU Kevin, for the affirmation, but more importantly for appreciating that we Filipinos are @crazyrichasians #superfans.”
“Crazy Rich Asians” is slated to be released worldwide in August. NVG
