Kris Aquino gave her thoughts on Davao Mayor Sara Duterte’s senatorial bid during a question-and-answer session on Instagram last Saturday, July 7.
The Q&A was meant to promote her upcoming movie “I Love You Hater,” which premieres tomorrow, July 11.
Some followers dared to ask personal questions, ranging from actors she would want to work with to details of her love life.
But JP Sayson (@jepot_ph) asked something related to politics, “Do you like Mayor Inday Sara Duterte to be senator and will you endorse her?”
Aquino replied, “I don’t personally know her, but I admire her resilience… I don’t think she needs my endorsement—she’s a sure winner.”
The latest Pulse Asia survey conducted from June 15 to 21 showed President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter within the top five among possible contenders in the 2019 senatorial elections. Sara received 95 percent awareness while 46.2 percent of those surveyed said they would vote for her.
Aquino’s interactions with the Dutertes have been mixed. The President’s son, former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, allegedly called Aquino out when he mocked the EDSA revolution last February.
The Queen of All Media attempted to reach out to the ex-vice mayor through social media, hoping to iron out “bad blood between our families” over coffee or beer. Paolo did not respond, and Sara would clarify that Aquino was not the “Krissy” he was referring to.
In a surprising move, the President extended his apologies to Aquino through his special assistant Bong Go last June. This was after Aquino cried foul when Assistant Communications Secretary Mocha Uson compared the President’s kiss to a Filipino woman in Korea to Ninoy Aquino being bussed by two women moments before his assassination.
However, Aquino maintains that ABS-CBN will not put her back on air just yet because she hasn’t won favor among Duterte’s supporters.
And while she has consistently said that she will not run in the 2019 senatorial elections, politics might not be off the table just yet.
A Sharon Cuneta fan account (@megatitas) asked, “Do you have a plan to run for office in the future? At what age?”
Aquino responded, “Not in 2019… Beyond that—I leave it all to God’s plan for my life.” /ra
