LOOK: Angelika Dela Cruz files certificate of candidacy for barangay captain, aspires for reelection
Kapuso actress Angelika Dela Cruz is seeking another win in this year’s barangay elections that will be held on May. The barangay elections has been postponed a couple of times in the past, although it was originally scheduled for October 2016. This time, however, it appears that the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections are underway by next month.
Dela Cruz first got into politics back in 2013, winning the bid to become barangay captain of Longos, Malabon City. Last week, April 19, Dela Cruz took to her Instagram account to share to her 400,000-strong followers that she has filed her certificate of candidacy for the coming barangay elections, showing pictures of her and her supporter at the Commission on Elections office.
“Filing of candidacy #barangayelection #malaboncity #barangaylongos,” wrote Dela Cruz on her Instagram page.
She was wearing a black shirt that had an image of President Duterte doing his famous fist salute; the shirt bore the words: “Oo, pederalismo. Hukbo ni Duterte. Kontra Droga. Kontra Korapsyon.” (Yes. Federalism. Duterte’s army. Anti-drugs. Anti-corruption.)
Dela Cruz is a staunch supporter of the administration. Last March 25, she shared pictures of her in support of Special Assistant to the President Bong Go for his possible Senate bid.
In one picture, Dela Cruz can be seen posing right next to Go, and with Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar in another.
Dela Cruz also supported President Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippine presidential elections two years ago, 2016.
“Si Duterte ang aming presidente (Duterte is our president),” wrote Dela Cruz in a post from April 2016, where she wore a “Duterte 2016” shirt with her husband and younger sister Mika Dela Cruz. JB
