Previously citing the country’s “political unrest” as the reason why Hayley Atwell won’t be able to make it at the ComiCon Asia 2018 slated for tomorrow and Sunday, the Hollywood actress took matters into her hands by releasing her own statement.

The actress, known as Agent Peggy Carter to Marvel fans, said in a statement released on her Instagram hours ago that changes in work schedule made her cancel her appearance at the upcoming convention in Manila, she said.
“I’m so sorry to be missing the convention in Manila this weekend,” Atwell first apologized. “I was looking forward to visiting your beautiful country and meeting you all.”
At the end of her statement, Atwell tried to impress her Filipino fans by writing “Magkakaroon ng isang magandang weekend (Have a great weekend),” but later took to the photo caption and corrected: “I’m now led to believe I should have said, ‘Magandang weekend mga kaibigan’ or ‘kita-kits.’”
While everyone was open about her reason, one netizen, @jr.riverali07, pointed out that “political unrest is everywhere.” He added, “If that’s ur opinion, we’ll take it because it’s your right to say so. And it doesn’t bother us anyway.”
Atwell later shut down the netizen to “read my statement words before you comment.” About the “political unrest” reason, she disproved this by revealing, “They were not my words.”
Earlier, Marvel legend Stan Lee canceled his appearance at the convention due to health reasons. /ra
