Actress Iza Calzado has decided to let go of her insecurities and fully embrace her “imperfect” body.
Calzado posted on Instagram on New Year’s Day some of her thoughts concerning her figure, even as she recently shared a photo of herself in a bikini while enjoying a day in the beach.
“Imperfections. I have so many of them,” the actress wrote. “Stretch marks, cellulites, loose skin, folds, love handles, scars and so many things I can be insecure about.”
She admitted that she has been on the road to loving herself more for some time now, but she found out that it can take a lifetime to do that.
“It hasn’t helped that I’ve been in the public eye for 15 years and have always felt dishonest with my seemingly perfect images that make it to print,” Calzado said.
Because of this, she promised herself that this year, she will be more “open and authentic” about her journey, adding that she follows body positive accounts, with added support from those close to her, especially her fiancé, Ben Wintle.
“I hope for a REVOLUTION on the way we see ourselves and other people. Love, respect, kindness and compassion are the key ingredients to this and I pray for more enlightenment and acceptance for every BODY,” she ended her post.
Calzado recently answered netizens who body-shamed her after she proudly shared her beach photos on Dec. 24. She stressed that there was nothing to hide in her body. Celebrity friends echoed her thoughts in support of her. JB
