Lea Salonga is all praises for Paulo Avelino in “Ang Larawan.”

“He doesn’t sing as well as the others, but his acting! He will be one of the greatest as he continues to grow!!”
She explained that his acting was versatile and “incredible to watch.” “He knows how to blur the line between good and bad, black and white, taking advantage of all those shades of gray.”
While some took her comment on Avelino’s singing as a slight, Salonga explained her view.

Some Twitter users also tried to explain her side to those who felt offended by the frank comment, but for Salonga, she only hopes that Avelino gets the real message.

“Ang Larawan” is a film adaptation of the titular musical, which is based on Nick Joaquin’s “A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino.” The movie won Best Picture at the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal.
After hitting a bump when the movie was pulled out of theaters after one day due to low-ticket sales, it was brought back to cinemas after the best picture win. The film’s social media page is updated on the list of theaters screening it. /ra
