Gorillaz unleash augmented reality app, ahead of ‘Humanz’ record release
British band Gorillaz have today released a new, augmented reality mobile app, which will allow fans to tour the band’s studio, listen to playlists made by members, and experience some scenes from their recent music videos in virtual reality.
The app, titled “Gorillaz”, is available on iOS and Android and will also play host to the Humanz House Party, an exclusive worldwide listening event to which fans will be invited via the app, to hear the new album in full for the first time, as per Pitchfork.
The group’s latest record “Humanz” will be out by April 28, and the album’s rollout has so far been punctuated by trendy “experiments” by the band in the tech arena, with the latest initiative in the form of a Gorillaz-themed pop-up dubbed “Spirit Houses”, which recreated the haunted house from their “Saturn Barz” video.
