Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Conception’s reunion film will not be seeing the light of day this year for sure.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the “Your Face Sounds Familiar” judge disheartened fans with her announcement that a future movie with her former husband was “not pushing through.”
“Thanks for all your prayers and I am sorry it’s not pushing through. But please be happy for me – because I am very happy with my new project which Star Cinema is now preparing,” Cuneta wrote.
Concepcion’s camp also confirmed the news through ABS-CBN reporter Mario Dumaual’s Instagram post. “Gabby Concepcion has always wanted to do a movie with Sharon Cuneta. However, due to his tight schedule and current commitments, it will not be possible anytime soon. We will study our option in 2018,” the statement read.
Concepcion, a father to Cuneta’s eldest daughter KC, is preoccupied with his two ongoing programs on GMA 7 afternoon soap “Ika-6 na Utos” and weekly sitcom “Tsuperhero.”
These past few months, Cuneta was insisting on having a “reunion movie” with Concepcion as a blissful gift to their loyal fans.
“There was a clamor for it when he (Gabby) first came home from the United States. I was the one who hesitated back then, but I heard that he was interested,” Sharon said in a recent interview with Inquirer.
According to her, the new film could either be a closure or a new beginning for their love team, depending on their fans’ reception. “Truth be told, I’ve had bigger hits with other leading men and on my own. This project was actually meant for someone else. I just told Star Cinema to give the Gabby-Sharon tandem a try,” she added. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
