Ruth Negga wishes to be ‘stalked by Meryl Streep’

Mentioned in Meryl Streep’s lauded Cecil B. DeMille acceptance speech as one of Hollywood’s talented “foreigners and outsiders,” Ruth Negga described her surprise at being talked about by the seasoned actress at the Golden Globe Awards. “I’m still floating… I haven’t absorbed it,” she told TV host Jimmy Kimmel recently in his talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

“She’s stalking you,” joked the host, to which Negga replied, “I would wish for that!”

The Irish-Ethiopian thespian, who was nominated for a best actress Golden Globe for her role in “Loving,” added that the shout-out was “incredibly surreal”: “It’s a dream come true—I’ve been such a fan of hers for so long.”

Russian superheroes unleashed

The Russians are joining the superhero “arms race” via “Guardians (Zashchitniki),” about four super-soldiers created by the Soviet Union. The members possess extraordinary abilities: Ler (Sebastien Sisak) controls the earth; Ursus (Anton Pampushnyy) is a gun-wielding werebear; Xenia (Alina Lalina) is a water elemental; and Khan (Sanzhar Mandiev) is a superfast bladesman.

Welsh actor Taron Egerton is one of the actors who lent his voice to the animated film, “Sing,” where he helps bring to life teen gorilla Johnny.

Egerton came to prominence for portraying young agent Eggsy Unwin in the 2015 comedy-action, “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” and will reprise the role for the sequel, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” scheduled for an October release. —Oliver Pulumbarit
