It was on Friday night (April 17) that Rhian received an email from the “The Rich Man’s Daughter” team, asking her to take over the character Marian left due to the latter’s pregnancy.

Rhian said she texted Marian on Sunday (April 19), one day before the start of the series’ taping.

“I woke up Saturday morning and it didn’t feel real yet. I didn’t know yet what kind of preparations needed to be made because I don’t have the script yet. I received it on Sunday and that’s when I messaged her,” Rhian told INQUIRER.net in an exclusive interview on the set of the said series in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

“First I congratulated her. Knowing that she needed to rest because of it, I just wished her a really comfortable and safe pregnancy. I said ‘Tomorrow na ko magsa-start!’ (expressing the emojis she included on the text).

“All she said was…she thanked me first and she told me to take care of the show. Obviously the show also meant a lot to her and she said, “Congratulations and Godbless!”

Rhian admitted she is not that close to Marian but they exchanged numbers sometime last year. She said she’s been really quiet about her acceptance of the role online and on TV.

“I just felt like if I’m going to tell anyone first about it, I wanted it to be her. I am really happy. It’s nice to get a message back as well.”

Rhian plays the role of Jade Tanchingco, an heiress of a wealthy family. Her heart will be torn between David (her suitor) and Althea (her new-found friend).

Acknowledging the fans who had been very eager to see Marian’s comeback on primetime, Rhian added she doesn’t want to disappoint.

“I know naman that they are very excited to watch her in this show. At the same time I am also happy for her because she has found something really important than her life that she really wants to take care of. And I think her fans also know na kung saan siya masaya, masaya din sila for her.”

“I’m just gonna really do my best. I know that this is really her show. There might be that comparison. I’m just gonna try to get that out of my head and do my best. Siya na mismo ang nagsabi sa ‘kin to take care of it and that’s what I am gonna do.”

Rhian’s last drama series on GMA network was “My Destiny”, together with Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez and Sid Lucero. It ended October last year. TVJ
