Who’s this actress-TV host who interfered with Vhong Navarro’s case?
MANILA, Philippines—After she was granted temporary freedom by the court Thursday, Deniece Cornejo said she is set to file a complaint before the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) against the alleged “protector” of host and actor Vhong Navarro.
In a letter by Cornejo’s counsel Salvador Panelo, he said the alleged protector of Navarro “pressured” the prosecutors to dismiss her rape case against the actor.
The alleged protector was described as a “top ABS-CBN talk show host and actress.”
“We understand that the aforementioned celebrity has been calling up the prosecutors handling the aforesaid case, and using her influence to dismiss the said cases, and to deny the motion of reconsideration filed by Deniece Cornejo,” part of the letter read.
Panelo said the unnamed talk show host was apparently doing her close friend a favor, who is “reputedly the manager of Vhong Navarro.”

In her 18-second statement, Cornejo thanked those who prayed for her as she went through her ordeal.
“Sa lahat po ng nagdasal, sa lahat ng sumuporta, maraming maraming salamat po sa inyo. Matagal ko po itong hinintay at lagi po akong nagdadasal gabi gabi. Ito po ‘yung pinakahihintay kong araw. Maraming, maraming salamat po,” Cornejo said.
Cornejo’s counsel for the serious illegal detention case, lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, told reporters in Camp Crame that the model has been bullied after she filed a rape complaint against the actor.
”There were violations against her. People were spreading rumors that she had sexually transmitted disease which has no truth at all,” he said.
Topacio said his client was “demonized” after accusing Navarro of raping her in her rented Bonifacio Global City condominium sometime in January.
“She was painted na parang napakasamang babae. Nag-iimbento daw siya ng storya,” he said.
