Deniece Cornejo freed on bail
MANILA, Philippines—Deniece Cornejo, one of three suspects in the alleged mauling of television host Vhong Navarro, is free.
Accompanied by her relatives, Cornejo, who has been detained at the Camp Crame detention center in Quezon City, walked out of jail on Thursday afternoon after finally receiving the release order from the Taguig regional trial court. She posted a P500,000 bail.
Cornejo was held at the anti-transnational crime unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, counsel of Cornejo for her serious illegal detention charge, said that before Cornejo could go home, she would have to personally appear before the Taguig RTC to subscribe an undertaking and go back to Camp Crame for medical examination.
Her alleged accomplices – Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz – were released Wednesday after each posting the P500,000 bail.
