MIAMI — According to two people directly involved with the case, Justin Bieber will plead guilty to lesser charges in his January arrest in South Florida after what police initially described as an illegal street drag race.

The two people told The Associated Press Tuesday that the 20-year-old pop star would plead guilty to misdemeanor careless driving and resisting arrest without violence charges. Bieber also will agree to take an anger management course and make a charitable donation.

The people insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly before a Wednesday court hearing.

The Miami Herald first reported the plea deal.

Bieber was arrested Jan. 23 in Miami Beach and was originally charged with driving under the influence, but breath tests found Bieber’s blood alcohol level below the limit for underage drivers.
