Award-winning journalist Kara David drew laughs on her 52nd birthday after she voiced her wish for the death of corrupt officials in the Philippines amid the anomalous flood-control projects. 

In the video posted on her social media pages, David first copied the famous pose of Alden Richards before she quipped, “Wish, sana mamatay lahat ng kurakot sa Pilipinas (I hope all the corrupt people in the Philippines will die),” then proceeded to blow out her candles as her companions burst into laughter. 

The clip has now garnered more than 160,000 views; 19,000 likes; 55,000 shares; and, 18,000 comments across Facebook and TikTok.

Netizens took to the comments section to express that they shared the same sentiments as David and hoped the wish would come true.

David, daughter of noted UP Sociology Prof. Randy David and the late Civil Service Commission chairperson Karina David, is a documentarist, anchor, and host at GMA, and used to be a news reporter of the network. On top of her media duties, she is also an assistant professor for Journalism in UP Diliman.

Filipinos, including celebrities Dingdong Dantes, Carla Abellana, Edu Manzano, Anne Curtis, Bianca Gonzalez, Nadine Lustre, Jodi Sta. Maria, Sarah Geronimo, Matteo Guidicelli and Karylle, among others, had earlier voiced their frustration over the alleged corruption in the use of funds for flood-control projects. /ra/edv
