The upcoming biopic “Quezon,” starring Jericho Rosales and chronicling the life of former President Manuel L. Quezon, has officially wrapped filming and is slated for theatrical release in October.
Alongside his cast members, JC Santos, who plays Manuel Roxas in the film, announced the release date during a livestreamed wrap party on Thursday, June 12.
Santos noted that the historical film is their “contribution” to Philippine cinema amid the issue that local films are struggling to land in cinemas due to competition with foreign films.
“I want to address the issue that some people say it’s difficult to include a local film in a cinema lineup. My answer to that is that’s why we always make films because we want to contribute to Philippine cinema, and this film, Quezon, is one of our contributions because we want Filipinos to return to the cinemas and watch this,” he explained.
As of writing, the exact release date has yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, as they wrapped production, other cast members also shared their memorable experiences from the set.
Mon Confiado, who plays Emilio Aguinaldo, said that one highlight for him was when he was in a scene with “Game of Thrones” star Iain Glen.
“He doesn’t like distractions. He always says, ‘clear the eyeline.’ That’s one of the things I learned from him because us Filipino actors don’t mind if too much is happening around us on set,” he shared.
“Quezon” is set to mark the TBA studios’ first major production since 2020 and follows the success of “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
Aside from the aforementioned, the “Quezon” ensemble includes Therese Malvar, Cris Villanueva, Ketchup Eusebio, Romnick Sarmenta, Angeli Bayani, Benjamin Alves, Karylle and Arron Villaflor, among others. /ra
