Following Celine Dion’s grand performance during the opening ceremony, Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is reportedly taking his stunt skills to the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Multiple US media outlets reported, citing reliable sources, that Cruise is preparing an epic stunt to close out the Paris Olympics and pass the flag to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games.

TMZ reported that the “Top Gun” star plans to “rappel down from the top of Stade de France to the stadium field as he carries the official Olympic flag.”

The rumor was amplified by Cruise’s attendance during the opening ceremony of the Olympics on July 27, amid his busy schedule filming “Mission: Impossible 8.”

According to the organizers, the closing ceremony promises “new interpretations” and will “take spectators on a journey through time, both past and future.” The program is set to highlight significant moments in the Olympic Games’ history, which began in ancient Greece.

Despite the opening ceremony receiving criticism, mainly among conservative Christians, it has been widely celebrated as it marked the first time in modern history that the event was held entirely outdoors, not to mention Dion’s grand comeback on stage and Lady Gaga‘s cabaret-inspired performance along the Seine River.

The closing ceremony, which holds the same anticipation and significance, is set to be hosted indoors on the 2,800-square-meter stage of the Stade de France, and will continue to bring together “world-famous performers” and “over a hundred performers, acrobats, dancers, and circus artists.”

The Variety reported that the show is set to also include “a performance set in a dystopian environment, in addition to a choreography involving the Olympics’ five interlaced rings, which represent the world’s five continents.”

The closing ceremony is set to take place on Aug. 11.
