Fatima Kate Bisan was crowned Hiyas ng Pilipinas last year, and earned the right to compete in the Miss Tourism World pageant. But before she embarks on her international competition, the Sarangani native clinched a coveted hosting gig for “Wil to Win,” Willie Revillame’s new TV game show.

The Mindanaoan lass credits her mass appeal as a major factor in the producers’ decision to hire her. As “Inday Fatima,” she has been producing content online, through her social media pages, chronicling her humble life in the province, away from the glitz of the pageant stage.

“Ngayon po (Now), I’m being transitioned to become an artist, so [it’s] more on being myself. And then iyong pagiging relatable din sa mga tao (also being relatable to people). Iyong content ko naman kasi talagang pang-masa (My content is for the masses), what I do…in real life. So iyon talaga iyong content ko, na-appreciate siya ng tao (So that is really my content, people appreciate) being myself,” Bisan told INQUIRER.net on the sidelines of the 2024 Hiyas ng Pilipinas launch event held at Discovery Suites Manila in Ortigas Center, Pasig City, on July 28.

She added that the various pageant hosting projects she secured after her coronation as Hiyas ng Pilipinas have also helped develop her skills that became useful when she tried out for the then untitled TV project. “I’m really happy and so honored with the opportunity to become one of the co-hosts [of] Kuya Wil,” Bisan shared.

The queen expressed her gratitude to the Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant, the platform that finally gave her a national crown after a decade in pageantry, which included stints in the Miss Philippines Earth and Binibining Pilipinas contests. She confessed that she almost gave up hope that she would ever have the chance to represent the country in an international competition.

Hiyas ng Pilipinas Chair Mike Sordilla told INQUIRER.net that the international organization intimated with him that the Miss Tourism World pageant may take place in November in South Africa. “Let’s hope for the best. Fatima is ready anytime. She will represent the Philippines even if we will be crowning a new set of [national] winners this year,” he said.

Bisan will relinquish her crown at the 2024 Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant’s coronation show to be held in Manila in October, a month before the tentative schedule of the Miss Tourism World pageant that she will compete in.

The screening of applicants for the 2024 Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant will kick off on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Acacia Hotel Davao in Davao City for aspirants from Mindanao. The screening in the Visayas will be in Cebu on Aug. 11, while the screening for Luzon will take place in Manila on Aug. 18.
