Dingdong Dantes’ coffin in ‘Rewind’ sold for P250,000

The owner of the funeral service provider where Dingdong Dantes’ “Rewind” casket was rented, reached out to internet personality Boss Toyo and sold him the item for P250,000.

Owner Pasky Ilagan visited the shop of Boss Toyo, who collects items of local artists and documents it through the YouTube series “Pinoy Pawnstars,” as seen on the latter’s vlog on Friday, Feb. 16.

“Ito po ‘yung ginamit sa shooting ng ‘Rewind’ [ni] Dingdong Dantes; first time [niya] humiga,” Ilagan said, showing the coffin as well as a video proving it was used by Dantes in the film.

(This was [the casket] used by Dingdong Dantes during the filming of “Rewind.” It was his first time [lying inside a coffin].)

After inspecting the casket, Boss Toyo went on with the negotiation and asked for Ilagan’s asking price, which was initially set at P1 million.

“Unang-una, walang pirma ni Dingdong (First of all, it doesn’t have Dingdong’s signature),” the internet personality argued, to which the owner said, “Balak po sana namin—nung shooting kasi medyo mabilis [pero] pipirmahan sana ni Dingdong.”

(Dingdong was supposed to sign it but he was not able to do so because the shooting went so fast.)

Boss Toyo started haggling at P200,000 until he and Ilagan agreed at P250,000. Boss Toyo then addressed Dantes, expressing hopes that the actor would visit the former’s shop and sign the casket.

Meanwhile, Dantes shared a report from entertainment reporter MJ Felipe about the “Rewind” casket and quipped, “[Medyo] malambot naman siya sa loob.” (It was quite comfortable inside.)

Aside from Dantes, “Rewind” stars his wife, actress Marian Rivera. The film, directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time as it reached over P900 million earnings.
