Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera’s ‘Rewind’ breaks new PH box office record
“Rewind,” a Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 entry starring Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, has once again made history as it became the first Filipino film to reach P902 million at the box office.
Star Cinema announced on Tuesday night, Jan. 30 the DongYan starrer is the first local movie to surpass P900 million in total sales. It remains showing in cinemas, as of this writing.
“Rewind” surpassed the 2019 hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, to become the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.

Meanwhile, the film garnered P54 million at the international box office, with US, Canada, and Australia as its top markets outside of its home country, Star Cinema head Kriz Gazmen told US-based media outlet Deadline.
Article continues after this advertisement“We have seen so many people posting videos of them crying after watching the film… this led to a lot of people being curious about the film, and they’d love to be part of the conversation. We definitely benefited from strong word-of-mouth,” he said in the report.
The movie tells the story of John (Dingdong Dantes) who begs for divine intervention after his wife (Marian Rivera) died in a car accident. When he was given a second chance, it was up to him how he would repair his relationship with his wife and son Austin (Jordan Lim).
“Rewind” also stars Jordan Lim, Pepe Herrera, Coney Reyes, Joross Gamboa, Ina Feleo, and Lito Pimentel.
