‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ star Andre Braugher dies aged 61
Andre Braugher, best known for his roles in American TV series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Homicide: Life on the Street,” has died due to a brief illness. He was 61.
Braugher’s death was confirmed by his publicist Jennifer Allen to several Hollywood news outlets including Variety and People on Wednesday, Dec. 13 (Dec. 12 in the US).
Braugher is survived by his wife, fellow “Homicide: Life on the Street” star Ami Brabson, and three children. No further details on his death have been made public as of this writing.

Prior to playing the role of Captain Raymond Holt in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Braugher had already made a mark in the acting scene, bagging Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Detective Frank Pembleton in “Homicide: Life on the Street” (1993), and for his performance as Nick Atwater in “Thief” (2006).
