Dina Bonnevie stressed that she did not take offense when Alex Gonzaga described her as “matandang artista” in the latter’s narration of their past confrontation.

It can be recalled that last December, Gonzaga spoke about how she was traumatized after a “matandang artista” shouted at her for being late during a taping, and painted her as the “bad guy” even when she explained the reason for her tardiness. The “matandang artista” was later revealed to be Bonnevie, and the taping was for their TV series “PS: I Love You” back in 2011.

“‘Yung mga tao nagsasabi [na], ‘Sagutin mo na, ang bastos. Tinawag kang matanda’ — actually, hindi ako na-offend nung tinawag akong matanda,” Bonnevie said during an episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Tuesday, Jan. 31. (There were people telling me, “Make a statement. She’s rude. She called you old” — actually, I was not offended when she called me old.)

“It’s true, matanda na ako (I’m already old). I’m 61 but I’d like to see people at 61 if they’re still looking fresh,” she continued. “Sorry but I feel fresh and I think I look fresh.”

Bonnevie noted that what bothered her was when Gonzaga claimed that the veteran actress “painted [her] as the bad guy.” Despite this, Bonnevie reiterated that they have already settled their misunderstanding and that all is well between them.

“OK kami kaya ako nagulat sa ‘matandang artista,’ ‘when you’re painted as the bad guy’ — for me, do’n ako nainis kasi painting you as a bad guy is inventing stories to make you look bad. But, I wasn’t inventing stories,” Bonnevie stated, quoting Gonzaga’s statements.

(We are OK so I was surprised when [she said] “old artist,” “when you’re painted as the bad guy” — for me, that was what annoyed me because painting you as a bad guy is inventing stories to make you look bad. But, I wasn’t inventing stories.”

“But that’s past, it has changed. Nagbago naman siya bago matapos ‘yung taping and OK [kami], hindi ako galit sa kanya,” she added. ([Gonzaga] changed before the taping ended and we are OK. I am not mad at her.)

Bonnevie also addressed the icing-smearing remark she said recently during her birthday, clarifying that “it was a joke” and that she had no intentions of hurting Gonzaga with her statement.

“‘That time, nando’n na ‘yung cake tapos parang nanunukso ‘yung mga tao. Parang ‘yung waiter natatakot na siya, sabi ko, ‘No, I won’t put cake on your face,’ but not to do something,” she explained.

(That time, the cake was there and the guests were making jokes [about the icing-smearing incident]. The waiter seemed worried so I told him, “No, I won’t put cake on your face,” but not to do something.)

“It was a joke, but I didn’t intend to hurt [Alex],” she stated. “If I hurt Alex’s feelings because na-post ‘yon, sorry [but] it was a joke. We were just having fun [on my] birthday.”

During the interview, Bonnevie narrated in detail the confrontation she had with Gonzaga, noting that the incident was not “without reason.” Bonnevie also said that she was up-front to Gonzaga at the time because she wanted her to “succeed” in her acting career.
