New pageant attracts Bb. Pilipinas alumnae

MANILA, Philippines — A new beauty contest mounted by the Guardians Magistrate Advocators for Democracy International Inc. (GMADII) is looking for a face for its various initiatives, and the competition has attracted veterans, including those who have competed in the premiere national pageant in the country.
Among the contestants presented at the launch of the 2022 Miss GMADII pageant at the glass ballroom of Okada Manila in Parañaque City on Oct. 22 were Joanna Rabe from Iba, Zambales, and Patricia Samantha Go from Quezon City, who both took part in the 2022 Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
Only eight ladies were presented during the event. Among those who joined Rabe and Go were Julie Ann Magtagad, Marylim Rizo, Mannelyn Benagale, Daniela Mari Breton, Penelope Velasco, and Stephanie Ilagan.
Aces and Queens General Manager Mikee Andrei told the Inquirer that the pageant will have a total of 20 candidates. She and Aces and Queens Business Development Head Jim Ryan Ros are collaborating with GMADII in mounting the pageant’s first edition. The pageant camp will also handle the candidates’ beauty contest training.
GMADII was founded by Dr. Estela Bulacan in 2016 “to be an active support of government initiatives such as community-oriented services, peacekeeping endeavors, and charity contributions towards good governance and improvement of the quality of life of all Filipinos.”
Rabe said what attracted her to the Miss GMADII pageant was the group’s thrust to preserve democracy. For her part, Go wants to use the platform to extend help to those who are in need.
Rabe also received the most votes from members of the media who covered the event to earn the “Darling of the Press” award. Aside from her recent stint in Bb. Pilipinas, she has also participated in the Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss Universe Philippines pageants.
The 2022 Miss GMADII pageant will culminate in a coronation night at the grand ballroom of Okada Manila on Nov. 29. EDV
