Ice Seguerra reveals battling depression for almost 17 years now
Ice Seguerra has opened up about battling depression for almost 17 years now and accepting to live with it.
Seguerra spoke about the realities of his condition and how he deals with it on his Instagram page yesterday, Feb. 21.
“Living with depression for almost 17 years now, I’ve come to accept that this will be my life from here on. With acceptance comes embracing the fact there will be days, weeks, or months that I won’t be okay, without really understanding why,” he said. “But I also know that it will pass. That one day, I can be myself again.”
The singer-songwriter described his illness as a “roller coaster ride” but noted that it’s still “worth all the struggle.”
“Sa totoo lang, minsan, nakakapagod (To be honest, sometimes it’s tiring),” he stated. “Sometimes, bad days will outnumber my good days but despite that, the joy of one good day is worth all the struggle.”

Seguerra first opened up about his mental health in 2019, disclosing that he was diagnosed with depression and anxiety in early 2000s. He also described the illness as something that “kills your passion” and “kills your soul.”
Meanwhile, Seguerra recently held an intimate memorial for the death of his pet dog of 13 years, Porky, who suffered from an enlarged heart and lung problems. Seguerra was later gifted by veteran actress Sharon Cuneta with a new maltipoo. JB
