Kris Aquino honored her brother, late former President Noynoy Aquino, on her mother Cory Aquino’s 12th death anniversary as her family prepares to mark 40 days since Noynoy’s death.

“Mom I am sure won’t mind that we are posting this at 2 a.m. (the hour she died), on the day of her 12th death anniversary, because on Aug. 2, it will be the 40th day since Noy’s death,” the actress said while showing a tribute video for her mother and brother.

The video included footage of their parents, Noynoy’s wake last June and various events from his term as president, among others. It also features the song “Hindi Ka Nag-Iisa,” which was performed by Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez during Noynoy’s bid for the presidency in 2010.

“Maraming nilalaman ang puso ko na gusto kong ibahagi sa inyong lahat,” she told fans. (My heart holds many things that I want to share with all of you.)

Kris acknowledged that she had not been speaking on behalf of her family because she is still waiting for a “go signal” to talk about her “journey” with her siblings.

“Now is still not the right time for me. Naghihintay pa ko ng ‘go signal’ from him (I am still waiting for a ‘go signal’ from [Noynoy]),” she added. “I know my brother will find a way to let ‘bunso’ know when it’s time for all of you to hear the story from me of our journey — simply because all of you are a very special part of our journey.”

While admitting that she is still in pain for her loss, Kris thanked the public for assuring her and her sisters that they are “truly blessed” to be Noynoy’s siblings.

“We were truly blessed to have Noy as our brother, na habang buhay naming ipagmamalaki, pasasalamatan, hahanap-hanapin at mamahalin (whom we’ll forever be proud of, give thanks to, miss and love),” she added. “Though still so painful, we know how blessed we were to have been born as the children of Ninoy and Cory, and the sisters of Noynoy Aquino.”

Cory and her husband late former senator Ninoy Aquino are both regarded as the country’s icons of democracy. Noynoy, who served as the 15th President of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016, is their only son.

Noynoy died in his sleep last June 24 due to renal disease secondary to diabetes. His funeral mass was held by his family at Ateneo de Manila University, in place of the usual venues for a presidential funeral due to the pandemic. He was buried at Manila Memorial Park, next to his parents. JB
