Miley Cyrus marks Hannah Montana’s 15th anniversary with letter to her character
Miley Cyrus reminisced over bittersweet moments she had while playing the titular character for the Disney channel show “Hannah Montana,” 15 years since it premiered.
The star talked about the show in a heartfelt open letter to the pop star alter ego of her character Miley Stewart, as seen on her Twitter page today, March 25.
“Although you are considered to be an ‘alter-ego’ in reality there was a time in my life when you held more of my identity in your glovette than I did in my bare hands,” she said.

Cyrus also expressed gratefulness for the years she got to give the best of both worlds to the characters, Montana and Stewart, since she believes that acting as them made her dreams of becoming a pop star into a reality.

She lost her grandfather during the show’s first season, fell in love for the first time during the show’s run and embarrassingly had her first period when a cute boy was cast to act with her.
She also recalled gaining friends from her fellow actors on the show. She said her co-stars became her family as she saw them more than her own, except for her father Billy Ray Cyrus who also starred on the show.
The singer also admitted feeling emotional when the show taped its final episode.
“It was bittersweet to know I would be leaving you (Hannah Montana), a huge piece of me, behind,” she said. “Breathing life into you for those six years was an honor… You all have my loyalty and deepest appreciation until the end. With all sincerity, I say, thank you!”
In an endearing twist, a verified account for the show responded to Cyrus, saying: “Nice to hear from you, Miley.”
