“We are still not sure how he got the virus, maybe from one of our recent hospital visits, or from someone in our bubble who was asymptomatic,” she said.

The “Just a Smile” singer credited their faith, a Bible verse and frontliners in helping them getting through the ordeal.

“One night, it was difficult and sometimes painful for him to breathe, and he felt fuzzy and confused from a 9-day fever and dehydration,” she recalled.

“He was feeling scared and we mentioned it to our nurse. She gently tapped him on the shoulder and said, ‘Don’t worry, Sir Martin. God is with you.’”

“She didn’t know it, but that moment gave Martin a surge of hope and peace, assured that God had been with us every moment, as He promised. He began to recover soon after, and we were able to go home after a few days,” she said.

Almalbis added in the comments section that she thankfully did not contract the virus even if she was in the hospital.

“Martin said I must have an army of angels protecting me, referring to a song I once wrote,” she said. Her song “All I Need,” written when she was with her band Barbie’s Cradle, has a line that goes “inside of my heart is an army of angels.”

The couple wed in 2006 and have two kids. Honasan, a visual artist, is the son of politician Gringo Honasan. JB
