Acclaimed comedian Dave Chappelle has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing him to cancel his upcoming shows in Texas, USA.

The Mark Twain Prize winner is currently in quarantine, but has yet to show symptoms, his representative confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter yesterday, Jan. 21.

“Dave Chappelle is quarantined after testing positive for COVID-19. His remaining shows at Stubbs Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, TX have been canceled and ticket holders should contact their point of purchase for refunds,” the rep was quoted as saying.

Chappelle was also said to have “safely conducted socially-distanced shows” since June 2020 and even implemented COVID-19 protocols for his team and the audience, including rapid testing.

“His diligent testing enabled him to immediately respond by quarantining, thus mitigating the spread of the virus. Chappelle is asymptomatic,” the rep said in the statement.

Chappelle, who was supposed to do five shows this week in Austin, has already conducted the first one on Wednesday, Jan. 20, before going on quarantine following the positive COVID-19 result, the report said.

The comedian earlier this week was seen hanging out with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, television host Joe Rogan, and comedians Donnel Rawlings and Michelle Wolf. The musician Grimes, Musk’s wife, was also with the group. Ian Biong /ra
