‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star Michael Rooker beats COVID-19: ‘My body won the war!’

“Guardians of the Galaxy” star Michael Rooker revealed that he has survived an “epic battle” with COVID-19.
The actor, who played Yondu in the films, announced his recovery on his Facebook page last Friday, Sept. 4. He also posted a photo of his negative COVID-19 test results.
“If y’all [ain’t] figured it out by now why I’ve been isolating in this crazy awesome [a]irstream of mine, let me help y’all out by saying I’ve been fighting off COVID-19,” Rooker stated.

“[A]nd I have to let y’all know it has been quite a battle. And as in any war, ALL is fair,” he added. “And IN the middle of this epic battle I’ve come to the conclusion that there [ain’t] a whole heck of a lot one can do externally, to fight off COVID-19 once it has gotten into your body.”
However, he explained that this was simply his own opinion and it did not come from a scientific study.
“The real battle takes place internally, on a cellular level,” Rooker said.
He also noted that he chose not to take any “extra medicines or vitamins or supplements” during his struggle with the coronavirus.
“I felt that if my immune system was not already prepared for this battle loading up with all this extra stuff would only do me damage as kidneys and liver would have been gravely stressed,” Rooker stated.
Though Rooker did not state when he contracted the disease, he would feel “like crap” or “pretty dang good” throughout his battle. He then proudly said that “the end result of all those daily battles has come to an end.”
“My body has won the WAR!” Rooker stated. “[COVID-19] put up a pretty good fight… but bottom line, it ended up getting its ass knocked out! [B]y my immune system.”
Aside from Rooker, other Hollywood stars such as Dwayne Johnson, Tom Hanks and Antonio Banderas have also recovered from the disease.
There are over 6.3 million positive COVID-19 cases in the United States as of today, Sept. 8. The Johns Hopkins University also reports that more than 189,000 people in the US have died due to the disease caused by the coronavirus. /ra
