Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is urging fellow Filipinos to register to vote for the upcoming elections, stressing that there should be “no more excuses” to not do so.

Wurtzbach took to Twitter earlier today, Sept. 8, to share her appeal to the public following President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to pardon United States Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott Pemberton, who was convicted in 2015 for killing Filipina transgender Jennifer Laude.

Wurtzbach also shared information on how to register to vote given by the We The Youth Vote Twitter page as she joins the #MasMaramiTayo (We are more) banner, which refers to the estimated 40 million youth who will be eligible to vote in the next elections.

“Useful information! Please lahat tayo dapat mag register na maging voter. Bawat isa satin. Hindi na sapat na sa social media lang tayo naririnig,” she said.

(Please, all of us should register to become voters. Each one of us. It is not enough that they can only hear us through social media.)

“Our voices need to be heard thru our votes. #MasMaramiTayo #MagparehistroKa,” she added.

Wurtzbach further stated in the following tweet: “I will continue reminding everyone to register to vote. Dahil sigurado, maraming magpapabukas nito until the last minute (Because for sure, many will wait until the last minute to do this.)

“No more excuses (even for me) lahat tayo dapat registered na. Hindi enough na sa social media lang tayo naririnig. #MasMaramiTayo #MagparehistroKa #40MStrong,” she added.

Wurtzbach has recently been vocal about political and social issues, and has even previously joined the call to scrap the then Anti-Terror Bill which is already a law.

“Okay. Signing off for tonight. Baka macarried away pa ko sa mga susunod kong sasabihin.. pero yun na (I might get too carried away if I continue talking, so that is it),” she stressed in another tweet.

“I know I [don’t] use twitter much and I probably [don’t] have a lot of active followers here anymore. But [please] for those who can read this. Please mag register tayo ha (let us register, okay)?” she added.

Wurtzbach’s appeal came just as fellow celebrities such as Liza Soberano and Saab Magalona denounce Duterte’s decision and call for justice for Laude. JB
