Vicki Belo defends Julia Barretto going braless

Dr. Vicki Belo has shown support for Julia Barretto’s choice to stay bra-free at home, even citing possible medical reasons for letting go of wearing a bra.
“@JuliaBarretto’s post got some negative comments when she posted a photo of her lounging at home braless,” Belo said on Instagram today, April 30, sharing the photo in question with the hashtag #LettheBreastsBreathe.

“I think Julia is right. Sometimes, it’s better not to wear a bra if you’re just lounging around the house, and especially if your breasts are not over a B cup or are not sagging,” the celebrity dermatologist said.
“Not wearing a bra allows for better blood circulation especially in the lung and breast area. Secondly, bra straps can be pressing on the area between the shoulder and the neck leading to neck pain.”
Though Belo did not mention what kind of comments Barretto received from her April 20 post, she did bring up research about wearing bras on her Instagram Stories.
One was a statement from American breast surgeon Dr. Andrea Madrigrano, who said that bras have no “structural benefit” for women with small breasts, as quoted in a Shape Singapore article last April 19.

Regardless of opinion, whether from experts or strangers, it seems that Barretto, like many women, was simply choosing what was comfortable for her. /ra
