Actress LJ Reyes revealed that she has been having a hard time sleeping amid the enhanced community quarantine implemented to battle COVID-19. Reyes cited stress as the primary factor for her sleeplessness.

The former “StarStuck” finalist also asked her fans if they were going through the same ordeal during these trying times, via her Instagram post last Monday, April 6. Some of Reyes’s followers affirmed the actress and said they were feeling the same way.

“I want to share that I haven’t been sleeping well at night,” she said. “Honestly, since Summer was born, puyatan naman talaga. Pero napansin ko since 3 weeks ago, mas di ako makatulog talaga no matter how sleepy I am. And it feels like an everyday battle.”

(Honestly, since Summer was born, I have already been pulling all-nighters. But I noticed that since three weeks ago, I still could not sleep no matter how sleepy I am. And it feels like an everyday battle.)

Reyes narrated how she has been trying different ways to put herself to sleep but to no avail. People told her that it might be caused by the on-going health crisis.

“Sabi sakin baka stress,” she added. “At this difficult time, sabi nila normal. Akala ko di ako nastrestress sa mga nangyayari. But maybe subconsciously, I am feeling it.”

But the actress found out that praying calms her down. She also narrated how her partner, actor Paolo Contis, has been helping her see the bright side of things with his sense of humor.

Last January, Reyes and Contis marked the first birthday of their child Summer Ayana through a simple floral-themed party.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention have both acknowledged that the crisis has brought stress to individuals on a global scale. A local psychiatrist, Dr. Rowalt Alibudbud, enumerated some ways to alleviate the stress brought about by the global health emergency, such as focusing on things that one has control of, lessening time on social media, utilizing technology to reach out to family and friends, as well as urging others to seek professional help if they experience mental health problems during the quarantine.
